"The deceased opened its eyes and instantly grabbed for the lapel of my lab coat with voracious tenacity. It gnashed its teeth as I emitted a terrified, albeit, high pitched, scream. And that’s when Troy adholstered his side arm and administered six lethal shots to the reanimated corpse’s cranium." |

The episode is preceded by a warning that states: “Dear listeners, please note that the following program may contain views that do not reflect that of King Falls AM, its management, or its subsidiaries. Listener discretion is advised” (0:37). |
When Ben dryly comments that Sammy seems extremely happy, Sammy says that “listening to a warning before a radio broadcast I’m on has literally been on the bucket list for a long time—thanks, Merv” (1:07). Ben gives the schedule for the evening as a phone interview with Emily Potter, news regarding the lineup for the first Annual King Falls Ambient Music Festival, and another interview that Ben seems reluctant to mention or talk about in detail. Sammy presses him when he evades. Ben is experiencing anxiety over the future caller, who is revealed to be Dr. Jeffrey Rosenblum with the King Falls County Coroner’s Office about the John Doe found in Lake Hatchenaw. Sammy responds by saying that’s journalism. |
Dr. Rosenblum introduces himself and says that the office listens to the show on slow nights. A nervous Ben tells Sammy that he’s not sure if breaking that kind of news is their place. Sammy, knowing of Ben’s hatred for Channel 13, offers to let them handle it instead. Ben immediately starts questioning Dr. Rosenblum. Dr. Rosenblum reports that they were unable to distinguish a cause of death, but no signs of foul play had been found during the first autopsy. However, the body had reanimated, emitting a hissing sound. Deputy Troy Krieghauser, who had been nearby at the time, was called inside the morgue. As the body began to thrash, eyes opening and hands latching on to Dr. Rosenblum’s lab coat, Troy shot the reanimated body six times in the cranium. |
A commercial plays for Granny Frickard’s Froggery. |
They contact Troy, who was in the middle of arresting one of the Williams’ boys for mooning, confirms the story. Ben is excited and Sammy remains skeptical. Ben says that this was the first instance of a zombie in King Falls since one time at the mall in the 80s. Dr. Rosenblum mentions that since the John Doe autopsy, there had been other cases of corpse reanimation. |
Mayor Grisham calls in next, demanding they go to break so they could talk in private. Sammy and Ben refuse. Grisham mentions that he’d read the transcripts of their show, which Sammy remarks is weird, but Grisham says he tries to keep up with all the local news. He says that he is less than thrilled with the excitement Sammy has brought to town with him, and implies that these are fake, staged events to gain popularity for their show. Sammy hangs up on him. They then get a call from the deceased Ester Rollins, asking for a ball of lavender yarn. |
